ダイアナ妃逝去20周年…ドキュメンタリー番組の中でプライベート写真公開

今年、ダイアナ妃の逝去から20年が経つことを受け、ドキュメンタリー番組「Diana Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy」（原題）が製作された。月曜日（現地時間）にイギリスとアメリカのテレビで放送される。
同番組では、ウィリアム王子とヘンリー王子が過去の写真を通じて母であるダイアナ妃との思い出をふり返っているとのこと。放送に先駆け、一部の写真が公開された。英国王室の船として使用されていた「ロイヤル・ヨット・ブリタニア」のデッキで小さなヘンリー王子を後ろから支えているダイアナ妃の写真は、一見普通に見えるが、なんと撮影したのはわずか3、4歳だったウィリアム王子！ そのほか、ヘンリー王子を妊娠中のダイアナ妃がウィリアム王子を抱えて満面の笑みを見せている写真、警察官の格好でポーズをとる兄弟の写真など、親子の貴重なプライベート写真が見られる。

「People」誌によれば、ヘンリー王子は同番組の中で、もしダイアナ妃がいま生きていたら聞きたいことについて語っているという。それは兄弟が幼少の頃、いつもショートパンツと留め具がついているピカピカの靴で“おそろい”にさせられていたのはなぜかということ。「ぼくが思うに、（ダイアナ妃は）へんてこな服装で“おそろい”にするのを楽しんでいたんじゃないかなって」。「違うかな。でも、ぼくは子どもたちに同じように服を着せるよ」と発言したそうだ。ヘンリー王子の未来の子どもの服装に注目が集まるだろう。
