ヨーロッパに点在するサナトリウム廃墟

ヨーロッパの山々には点在するサナトリウムがある。これらは当時結核を患った人々が長期療養するための場所として使用されていたものだ。
18世紀末から19世紀にかけてヨーロッパで大流行した感染症である結核は、当時有効な治療法が確立されておらず、死の病気と恐れられていた。
そのため患者は人里離れた山奥に隔離されるのが一般的だった。
これらの写真は放棄されたまま現在に残る、ヨーロッパのサナトリウム廃墟を撮影したものだ。
